As part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, we research the topics of surface engineering and associated phenomena, phase transformations of metallic alloys, and the formation of composites.
Since the late 1990s, we have contributed significantly to the understanding and process development of Cold Gas Spraying/Kinetic Spraying. Our international and pioneering role covers basic research as well as developments in application and systems engineering – the latter often in cooperation with industrial partners.
Our research combines simulations of fluid mechanics and modeling of deformation in material interfacing with appropriate experimental verification of results. This gives us the expertise to tailor coating parameters for new material developments in order to develop new material models and process descriptions.
