Description
With the study subject industrial engineering the students should be given a wide range of technical skills and knowledge in business administration, economics, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. Particular attention is paid to the interdisciplinary view between the disciplines involved. The students should develop special skills that are necessary for qualified and responsible acting in the professional practice and make it possible to record economic and technical relationships, to analyze them with scientific methods and to actively control them. Based on a sound theoretical basis of the economic and engineering sub-disciplines, implementation skills are imparted that enable the graduates to apply methods, techniques and instruments in a goal-oriented and responsible manner.
Program structure
The bachelor degree program Industrial Engineering usually takes seven trimesters and consists of compulsory modules, elective modules and a thesis. Students who have not yet completed all services can be admitted to the Master’s program for the time being. Students who have earned 180 credit points with a minimum grade of 3.0 by the end of the eighth trimester of study can continue their Master’s degree. Students who do not meet these requirements can earn the missing credits in the ninth trimester to successfully complete their bachelor’s degree.
The master program lasts five terms (eighth to twelfth trimester of study) and concludes with the master’s thesis. The master’s degree program in Industrial Engineering expands and deepens the basic knowledge and skills taught in the Bachelor’s program.
The bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering offered at HSU is divided into a basic course (1st to 4th trimester) and a main course (4th to 7th trimester). In the fourth trimester, both modules of the basic and the main course have to be taken. It leads to a professional qualification and provides basic and partially in-depth knowledge, for example in the following disciplines:
business management
Human resources and organization
Maschinenzeichnen
Electrical engineering
mathematics
National economy
computer science
automation technology
In the master’s program, students can choose between three main topics:
Product development,
Logistics,
Electrical energy supply and energy industry.
