MISDRO

Condition assessment of steel infrastructure using multivaraible inspection systems and drones

Drohnenflug

The goal of the project is the development and testing of automated multivariate inspections sytems and procedures for the condition assesment of steel infrastructure using drones as the carrier system. This encompasses the investigation of the harware components (e.g., unmanned aerial systems (UAS), sensors, data collection, and data processing, etc.) and software (e.g., algorithms for determining the optimal flight path, automatic condition assessment based on the sensor data, as well as visualisation of the data and the results) required to complete such a task. A hyperspectral camera is used as the central sensor for damage detection in order to obtain a multi-layered database for precise damage analysis during the flight.

The MISDRO project is funded by the Centre for Digitilisation and Technology Research of the Ferderal Armed Forces (DTEC.Bw). Under the leadership of the chair of steel structures, the current research work is being conducted in cooperation with the chair for control systems engineering as well as for industry-partners with expertise in infrastructure inspection, UAS development and AI-supported data processing.
