Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Max Gündel

Prof. Gündel studied civil engineering at the TU Darmstadt from 1999 to 2004. After completing his studies, he worked as a project engineer and project manager for Hochtief Construction AG. He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Steel Construction at RWTH Aachen University and received his doctorate under Prof. Feldmann. From 2013 he worked for Wölfel Engineering in various management positions – most recently as a business manager. On September 1st, 2020, Prof. Gündel took over the chair for steel construction and hydraulic steel construction at the Helmut Schmidt University / UniBW Hamburg.
Prof. Gündel is a member of several national and European standards committees (DIN EN 1998-1, -2, -4 and -6, DIN 4150-2, SC8 WG2) and deals extensively with steel structures under dynamic influences, novel manufacturing processes and condition assessment.
