As a central institution
- the language centre runs module courses for the acquisition of ECTS for students in English, French, Spanish and Russian.
- we offer English courses for HSU employees.
- we conduct language examinations in accordance with the NATO standard STANAG 6001.
- we prepare students for stays abroad at partner universities.
- we run special courses in French, Russian, Ancient Greek and Latin.
- we offer German courses for international students and staff.
- we offer courses in Arabic, Italian, Japanese and Swedish, as required.
Our courses are exclusively aimed at students and employees of Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg and members of the Bundeswehr.
Our 7 permanent teachers and about 20 freelancers come from 10 different countries. We are experienced language instructors with many years of experience in teaching foreign languages. We teach predominantly in a face-to-face format, which is usefully supplemented by digital and blended learning resources.
