- Neo-institutional inspired analysis of complex processes of separation of powers in federal states and in the european multi-level-governance system
- Analysis of (constitutional) law with emphasis on the parliamentary federal state, bicameralism and of (constitutional) courts
- Interdisciplinary crossovers to law will be analysed by research to governance- and constitutional theory, aspects of german constitutional law and the role of leading and ordering ideas within law as well as the discoursive constitution of judicially governance
- Furthermore research will be conducted based on the history of ideas with focus on institutional reconstruction of central elements of the constitutional democracy, like separation of powers, republicanism, integration and legitimacy
