Dr.–Ing. Niels Demke works as a group leader at the Professorship for Machine Elements and Computer-Aided Product Design in the Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. He studied automotive engineering at HAW Hamburg and received his doctorate in 2022 from Helmut Schmidt University in the field of computer-aided product development. His research focuses on the derivation and communication of design intentions to support interdisciplinary collaboration in the early phase of the design process.
With a focus on information architectures and assistance systems for integrated product creation, he has worked on several projects in the automotive industry as both an employee and in a managerial role since 2015. In 2022, he became a founding member of the used Open Source Community for Sustainable Engineering and Design. He has also been involved with the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure e.V. (VDI) since 2023.
