Alexander Degel has been a research assistant at the Professorship of Sociology with Focus on Microsociology at HSU since 2018. Previously, he studied psychology (major) and philosophy at the University of Innsbruck and the University of Zurich. Since 2016, he has been training as a psychoanalyst and group psychotherapist, and in 2017 he began working towards his PhD. Since 2021, he has been working in the third-party funded project DigiTrans (digitization of psychosocial counseling in the field of family and life support).
His focus is on latent structures of meaning and unconscious dynamics at the individual and societal/institutional level and the interplay between these factors. Degel looks at this subject in different contexts, including the relationship between East and West Germany, as well as in neoliberalism by examining the activities of management consultants.
