Dr. Francesca Marsili
Personal details
Dr.–Ing. Marsili’s research focuses on improving the reliability assessment of existing structures and increasing the effectiveness of maintenance and infrastructure management. This includes digitizing, automating, and standardizing life cycle analysis, integrating SHM into condition assessment, analyzing large amounts of data over the life cycle of existing infrastructures, and determining optimal monitoring and intervention strategies for individual objects and networks. She is currently involved in three research projects related to the implementation of SHM in Building Information Modeling (BIM), the assessment of remaining useful life of existing infrastructures using hybrid methods (ENDURE), and the integration of BIM in monitoring and life cycle management of precast concrete water structures. Dr.–Ing. Marsili studied civil engineering and architecture at the University of Pisa and received her PhD in environmental engineering from the University of Florence and TU Braunschweig. Before starting her work at HSU in February 2022, she worked for 5 years in the Infrastructure Management Section at the Federal Waterways Engineering and Research Institute (BAW) in Karlsruhe.
