Electrical machines are used as generators, transformers, motors and actuators in a wide range of applications in electrical energy supply, industrial automation technology, household appliances, vehicles, microsystems technology and information processing components. When using drive solutions, there is an increasing need to use primary energy efficiently, to minimize and locally influence environmental pollution, to further develop industrial production processes and to miniaturize devices.
The Chair of Electrical Machines and Drive Systems conducts research on current issues and innovative solutions, particularly in the fields of electrical energy supply, electromobility and special drive technology.
A focus is placed on electrical machines with high utilization and special requirements regarding their reliability and availability.
