Profile
Ana Soliz de Stange obtained her PhD from the University of Hamburg. She holds a Magister’s degree in International Studies (Chile), a postgraduate diploma in Regional Integration (Spain), and graduate degrees in Political Science (Chile) and Law (Bolivia). Her research focuses on the field of International Relations and includes the topics of triangular relationships, especially Latin American-China-U.S. relations, regional integration in Latin America, as well as populism. She is particularly interested in the study of synchronization, a concept borrowed from physics, which she proposes as an interdisciplinary approach to the examination of triangular relations in the context of International Relations.
Before joining the economics faculty at HSU, she was a research fellow at the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies in Hamburg. In addition, she has lectured at universities in Bolivia, Chile, and Hamburg and has been a visiting scholar at the University of Aberdeen, the University of Sydney, and the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
Her research, including field research in China, has been funded by Übersee-Club Hamburg, the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), the Hanns Seidel Stiftung, and the Fundación Carolina. She is a member of the International Studies Association (ISA) and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA).
