Content
Numerical modelling of coupled mechanical deformation and fluid flow in porous media is of importance in several branches of technology. The design of reliable and efficient approximation schemes has recently attracted researchers’ interest. Our purpose is to gather a small group of specialists for focused and stimulating discussions. As the result of the workshop the design of benchmark problems for flow in deformable porous media, that allow future comparative studies of models, discretizations and solvers in the field of proroelasticity, is focused. To this end, we will have short talks, leaving plenty of time for the following discussion and the evaluation of numerical test settings regarding their potential for benchmark problems.
Venue
The conference will take place at the Ameron Hotel located in the historical Speicherstadt (warehouse district) not far from the port and the new HafenCity.
Location: AMERON Hotel Speicherstadt is located in the Speicherstadt within the HafenCity district, close to the centre of Hamburg. The Überseequartier underground station on the U4 line is approx. 300m from the hotel, offering convenient access to the entire city by public transport. By taxi Hamburg airport is around 30 minutes away, and the main railway station can be reached in about 5 minutes.
Program
The workshop will start with dinner on Monday December 4th and will finish before lunch on Wednesday December 6th. A detailed program will be announced here.
Talks (15 Minutes + 5 Minutes for discussion)
In your talks we kindly ask you to address the following topics:
- Dimension of your implementation: 2D and/or 3D
- Discretization (e. g. MFEM, CG/DG FEM, FV and their combinations…)
- Solvers (linear and non-linear; splitting and/or monolithic approach, algebraic solvers)
- Problems already implemented (e. g. Mandel’s problem,…)
- Software platform
- Where do you see need for improvement (e.g. modelling (linear/nonlinear, single-/multiphase), analysis, discretization, solver)?
- Which topic should be particularly addressed by a new benchmark? What do you expect from a poroelasticity benchmark?
