Excursion to the Porsche Center Hamburg

HSU

4. December 2024

After the last two excursions on the subject of hydrogen were held, the next excursion to the Porsche Center Hamburg Nord-West in Eidelstedt took place on 18.11.2024 as part of the lecture “Energy sources and storage in automotive engineering”, which is part of the Master’s degree course in Automotive Engineering at the HSU. As the lecture focuses on electric drive systems and synthetic fuels in addition to conventional energy sources (diesel and petrol fuels), this excursion provided practical experience in the field of battery-electric mobility with an accumulator as energy storage. At the Porsche site in Hamburg Eidelstedt, we were able to take a close look at a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and its energy storage system at a specially equipped high-voltage workstation. We not only had the opportunity to view an open battery stack and its individual battery modules, but also the associated vehicle and its interfaces to the battery stack. The demonstration and practical explanations on site made it possible to link the theoretical knowledge from the lecture with a hands-on application. Special thanks go to the highly motivated team from the Porsche Center Hamburg North-West for the competent and friendly tour and demonstration of a battery electric vehicle.
