HiBRAIN: Holistic method of a combined data- and model-based Electrode design supported by artificial intelligence

The challenge of the HiBRAIN project is to develop a holistic approach that includes the incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize the electrode design. The extensive database required for this is to be generated primarily by model-based simulations, which are to be supported by specifically collected experimental data.

Characterization of fabrication-microstructure-property relationships for polymer-based battery materials, combining tomographic 3D imaging with modeling and simulation

In this project, (operando) characterization of the 3D structure and morphology of polymer-based battery electrodes at nano- and micrometer scale is used to obtain an accurate knowledge of the 3D morphology of experimentally manufactured electrodes and their functional properties. The methods of 3D imaging in combination with model-based simulation will generate structuring recommendations that support the design of polymer-based battery electrodes with optimized electrochemical performance.

Data and model reduction for multi-physics problems in complex geometries

This is a subproject of the dtec.bw CTCentre Digital Tomography Center for Functional Composites.

It is dedicated to data reduction to improve an automated workflow from image acquisition in the CTCentre to calculation of key quantities using multiscale and multiphysics models.
